'PAULEEN'
This is a second book by the author on Camp Columbia - the American camp of WWII situated at Wacol, a south-west suburb of Brisbane. Part of the camp from early 1943 to June 1945 was the OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL to provide training towards officer status.
This is the story of a local teenage girl who found employment there as a shorthand typist. Now in her eighties, Pauleen has provided original script and photographs of the School as well as her remembered experiences of the camp. The book includes sketches of the camp and the school as well as drawings of the areas where field exercises were carried out. These are quite unique, and include maneuver areas as far south as the Gold Coast. The story concludes with her post-war service at an AIF unit at Ipswich, and her time at the Amberley RAAF Base - where she met her husband.
Size A4 50 pages.
For those interested in American troop presence in Queensland during WWII., or just for a romantic story.
