In 2006 I joined The Adventure Travel Company's cycling trip following the Tour De France from Bordeaux, through the Pyrenees and the Alps. A group of 26 of us (plus 4 support crew) left Paris on the fast train for a 16-day cycling feast through some of the most stunning and spectacular country imaginable.

We watched Le Tour depart Bordeaux, climb the Tourmalet, Col De Croix De Fer, Col De Saisies and more. We watched as they rode at lightning speed through towns and villages passed hordes of people waiting to get a glimpse of their fabourite riders and teams.

Le Tour 'caravan' with its many vehicles adorned with advertising and throwing 'give-aways' to the spectators added to an amazing spectacle.
