Weeaproinah is regarded as the wettest place in Victoria, averaging 75" (1900 mm) of rain per annum.

Originally this station was called McInnes, but the name Weeaproinah was re-allocated from the location that became Dinmont.

From 19/1/1955 to 1/7/1962 Weeaproinah was the terminus of the line.
