Moe - Walhalla line

The name is a corruption of "Valhalla". Walhalla was the terminus of the line , built by necessity in the valley of a very steep gully. The space for the station was so restricted that the station building was built over the creek.
It was considered a remarkable piece of engineering to get the railway into the town.
When the line closed the original station building was moved to Hartwell in suburban Melbourne.
The WGR re-opened the line to Walhalla early in 2002.
