I have bought all the products used myself and
have evaluated them at face value.
All I can say is "WOW", the leatherique products are amazing, they have
taken a virtually throw away leather interior and breathed life back
into it as
you will see below.
The leather interior is now something I can be proud of to have in my
car.
This project is being done in 2 phases.
Phase 1 is rejuvenating and cleaning all the leather back to a good
condition.
Phase 2 will be dyeing the leather to a new colour, it
will be changing to BLACK.
Phase 1
The
small half of the back seat, as you can see
it has part of a number
plate
indented into it and is very dirty. The leather is about as hard as
thick paper. The rest of the leather interior is also in need of
attention, although not as bad looking, the rest of the leather is
still quiet hard, the base of the front seats in particular. The seat
frames are bent and will be swapped onto new frames once the leather
has softened to make removal far easier. The head rests not pictured
are in good condition and will just recieve a clean at this stage. The
slight tear at the top of
the front seat will also be repaired.
Close up of the small half to better show the
conditon of the leather (well lack of).
The Leatherique products that will transform the
leather seat back to
original and clean condition.
On friday night I applied a liberal coat of the
rejuvinator oil to the leather seat and rubbed it in, I continued to
massage the oil in over the weekend at various times and apply a little
more, the leather seat
was kept in my shed that gets pretty hot (at least 5-6degrees hotter
then than outside temps, so over the weekend the seat has been exposed
to temps of around 35-38degress, it is still covered with the
rejuvinator oil in the below pictures, I think it will take a week to
get to a soft condition and looking alot more normal. Pictures are
after 2 days of letting the Rejuvinator Oil soak in.
One week on and been in the car for about 2 days,
gave it another clean, as you can see it is really starting to come
back to life, it's alot softer like it should be and looking nearly
normal.
Two weeks on and the complete back seat is in the
car, needs a bit more oil rejuvination softening followed with another
clean, in the below pictures you can see alot the impressions
from storage are really
starting to disappear, The
leather now feels soft like it should.
About 3 weeks since first starting the project
and getting better every day
Phase 2 .... Starting Soon.
The Leatherique products that will be used to
fill some cracks and dye the seats to black.
Not shown in the picture is the detailed instructions (delivered with
the products) on how to best apply them.
