Everyone wants to believe that big change can happen in the blink of an eye. That we can wake up one morning to discover that we are enlightened. That something can happen in the world and we will suddenly have world peace etc. It's certainly possible. After all, the Soviet Union collapsed and the Berlin wall fell, all in an incredibly short period of time . It was like an avalanche that built up momentum as it went. Or maybe it takes a long long time for real change to happen. People don't change over night, they only appear too. After all, the fall of the Soviet Union was decades in the making. Gorbachev just laid the final straws on the camel's back and it all came crashing down. For the Russians it seemed like a massive and traumatic change, but how much happier and more prosperous are ordinary Russians now? It will take decades for a new economy to build up and for democracy to get a real foothold. It seems like a big spring is being wound up within us and in the world at large. Things are becoming super cooled (or super heated). When the tension becomes unbearable, all it requires are a few extra straws and it could become obvious to all and sundry that the old ways haven't worked, no matter how hard we tried. This realization could avalanche. All the seed crystals spread about the planet could be living examples that there is a new way that could work. A new order could then start crystallizing out very quickly. It might seem like a massively fast and traumatic change but really it is just the point where things change direction (like the fall of the Soviet Union). There may even be chaos in the middle. It may require a massive conflagration for a phoenix to rise from the ashes. But then again chaos and conflagration may not be necessary if there are sufficient seed crystals already spread about the planet. We can be those seed crystals. We don't need to be trying to change the world, just quietly sprouting and doing our own life affirming thing. Why beat our heads against the wall when the foundations are already crumbling? We demonstrate the new way with our lives not our words.  For millennia people have been telling others how to live their lives, then trying to force them to do it (often thru fear). Let's instead show them how to do it and let them make up their own minds. A new and wonderful age has been prophesied. And prophesies, if believed by enough people have a way of being self fulfilling.
