Timber

Where timber fencing is required, we supply and install CCA treated hardwood and CCA treated pine paling fences with options including Colonial Tops, Windsor Tops, Paddle Pop Tops, Cropped Corners, Cut To A Point and standard Batten Tops.  We only use good quality CCA treated fencing timber with batten screws for rail attachment and good quality fencing nails to ensure a long lasting, good looking fence for your property.

"There's nothing wrong with this fence.  I like it just the way it is."

Click on the photos below to see samples of various styles of timber fencing.  Some popular variations include:

'Exposed Posts'  -  Posts visible from the footpath and generally having knobs on top, often painted a different colour to the palings to highlight them.  Normally 100 x 100mm CCA Hardwood posts are used in this situation.

'Three Up or Five Up'  -  Usually Colonial, Windsor or Paddlepop Top palings with a straight top line except at the posts where they step up three or more increments to a peak.  Often done in conjunction with exposed posts and knobs on top.

'Butted Up'  -  Palings are attached to the rails side by side with very little or no gaps.  As the timber dries out the palings shrink slightly and you will end up with a small gap between the palings.

'Shiplap'  -  Palings are nailed onto the rails with an overlap of about 25mm.  This is done to totally eliminate gaps and is common around pools and other areas requiring privacy and/or noise reduction.

"I haven't seen any palings fall off.  This fence is good as new."

'Arched Top'  -  Top line of fence is arched with the low points being at the posts and the high points at the middle of each panel.

'Scalloped Top'  -  Curved topline opposite to 'Arched' with high points at the posts and low points in the middle of each panel.

'Chainwire on Hardwood'  -  Consisting of CCA Hardwood Posts and Rails with Heavy Gal or PVC  Chainwire stapled onto it.  This style was popular many years ago and is making a comeback due to a combination of appearance and relatively low cost.  Several variations are being tried including the provision of an additional top rail.  Many people restoring older homes or looking for something different to the ordinary are considering this style to set off their homes.

"Maybe no-one will notice if I smile nicely."
