| Attachment |
| Do not be too attached to goals But we get ourselves into trouble when we become overly attached to specific goals - so attached that we become compulsive about it. The real trap here is the attachment, not the goal-setting process itself. Many of us use goals and the attachment to goals as a distraction - the ego's way of keeping our inner feelings suppressed. Goal-setting involves looking toward the future. This futurizing prevents you from living totally in the present moment. Looking forward to things takes us out of the present and robs us from fully experiencing the emotional experiences of the present. Do not become too attached to goals. |
