Another twingling new star from US, very talented Vanessa Carlton. Her most unique and sweet voice gived her first debut single "a thousand miles" a peak to No.4 in US billboard chart, making a first step of success, the single was also in the OST of Legally Blonde movie. Then her awsome debut album "be not nobody" was released in US one month ago topped the billboard chart of No.5 also went gold! The album features the stunning lastest single "a thousand mile" and her next single "ordinary days" makes her well-known by the public. Talking about her music, she is a song writer and a piano player, the result of her album is sweet, multi-layered, and appealing. And most of her debut album follows that lead, often overflowing with soaring strings, intimate pianos, crooned vocals, and pretty melodies, because Carlton shows the potential of a songwriter that can convey her emotions through her songcraft.

Her songs are beautiful, the orchestra booms, and shows off her voice very well. The first song "ordinary days" which will be her next single, was about a dream, and something happened when she woke up.......well anyway the third song was listed as "unsung" which is a faster beats and rock song, very nice beats and vanessa once again shows her unique voice and talented piano skill. Surely sher will put her leading hit single"a thousand mile" in to her debut album, the song was amazing crafted that it has great vocal and orchestrated effect. it was very pleased to hear her voice mixed with the orchestra, that make the effects melting perfectly together through out the whole play.

The next song, "pretty baby" i reckon it's a very nice song, again with the piano play and her own orchestra, she voice in this song is similiar like another new star Michelle Branch, since one plays guitar and one play piano, both artist sings brilliant songs! The next song entitled "Rinse" shows off more of Vanessa's trademark piano skills. Though in several parts of the whole CD it seems as thought the orchestra's trying to drown out her vocals; but she can just "rinse [that] all away." The next track is "Sway" a song that showcases her vocals, and has a great choice of background music. It's an equal distribution of lyrics, and melody. Her song "prince" is more classy and more low tempo making it a nicer song to listen to, while giving it a nice emotion to remind you of some of the music you here in the opera. The orchestra is beautifully placed in this song; giving them substance and not making them just be there. Her vocals for rock music are tested on the rock track "Paint It Black" one of those Rolling Stone tracks that no one in this generation probably even knows...lols~ She showcases her writing skills, and fantastic piano fingers in her next song "wanted", this song played in a way that I've never heard them played before. A way that makes me think, Alicia Keys should bite the dust. She's got nothing on Vanessa's skills. The last track entitled "Twilight" is very nicely done.

The well-crafted debut album from Vanessa Carlton-"be not nobody" through out Vanessa's entire album she has an entire orchestra behind her, giving her songs more feeling, and more meaning. Sometimes when ever i play her songs i feel some kind of relax and resting, no where like those songs make you exciting or gives you strong feelings, i didn't they are bad songs but Vanessa work really should be concerned and respected, perfect when you play her song in a large living room that makes the orchestra effect and her mature, talented voice overwhelmed in the atomsphere of your room.
Highly recommanded. Thank you.

I give this album 4.5\5 stars -------By. Evilvice
