Never one for showoff plants of any kind, I was not a great fan of
these "bigheads" of the flower world. That is until I grew my own
company of giant faces from a packet of seed that came free with
a gardening magazine. Then I came to realise what a wonderfully cheerful, giving plant
they really are. I found myself running out to snap pictures of their headlong
development much as I would have done had they been a treasured grandchild.
Just as with a grandkid, I also boasted of them at every opportunity to
anyone who was willing to stand still and listen.
