HDR1 , REd & SS32: - What is Saved with Arrangement, Mixer and |Settings|Save Settings

|Settings|Save Settings: (the ".ini" file)

  • All current settings in the Editor environment EXCEPT those saved for Arrangement, Mixer and AVI Offset as outlined below. - all main window sizes & locations, all PC filepaths, all passwords, record bitrate, etc..
  • Settings are saved in the current .ini file on the PC. i.e. the .ini file that was invoked at start-up of current SSEditor instance, generally found in folder C:\Soundscape\.
  • Editor will use these settings when next opened with a shortcut invoking above .ini file.

Notes:

  1. To retain your current environment settings you must use |Settings|Save Settings before exiting Editor. There is no prompt to " Save changes?" when exiting Editor after changes are made to environment settings, except Passwords & perhaps Custom Toolbars - see below.
  2. Changed/New Passwords are saved automatically to above .ini file at the time you OK this option anyway.
  3. In the |Settings|Customize Tool Page: you are given a choice to save edited toolpage (saves to above .ini) - otherwise all current toolpage preferences are saved anyway when |Settings|Save Settings is used.
  4. Current Mixer Window Position & Size are saved as defaults for next New Mix...
  5. By manipulation of Shortcuts and .ini filenames, individual user/project Editor instances can be customized.

|File|Save Arrangement

  • All Arrangement info in the ARR window.
  • Record tracks: except for arming status
  • Sample Rate.
  • Varispeed.
  • MTC/SMPTE Format.
  • MTC/SMPTE Offset.
  • Tempo.
  • Sign.
  • L & R Locator positions.
  • Loop Play & L/R punch in/out buttons.
  • Record parameters: all settings @menu |Settings|Record Setup.....
  • Automation parameters: all settings @menu |Settings|Automation Setup.....
  • Marker positions and names.

Notes:

  1. All the above will save when using '|File|File Save' or '|File|File Save As', or keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Alt+S & Ctrl+S. Note: For Ctrl+Alt+S to work, the current ARR must have opened from the SDisk; for Ctrl+S to work, the current ARR must have opened from the PC.
  2. Changes to any of the above will result in a message " Save arrangement changes to SFile or PCFile?" when attempting to Open another arrangement, or to Exit Editor without having saved after changes made.

|File|Save Mixer

  • All Channel Builds , configurations, I/O Routing, Element Info, Plugin Settings (*see note 4) & current fader/knob/switch positions.
  • Track Arming status.
  • Mixer Window Position & Size, Plugin window positions, current channels visible and View Size (Q or X).
  • Automation Enabled/Disabled.
  • Automatic Delay Compensation Enabled/Disabled. (Red/SS32 only)

Notes:

  1. All the above will save when using '|File|Mix Save' or '|File|Mix Save As', and keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Alt+Q / Ctrl+Q, however note that '|File|Mix Save' & keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Alt+Q or Ctrl+Q do not become active unless changes have been made to Mixer Build, Routing (ie resulting from using Edit) or toggling of Automation/ADC Enabled/Disabled. For Ctrl+Alt+Q to work, the current MIX must have opened from the SDisk; for Ctrl+Q to work, the current MIX must have opened from the PC. NOTE: from EditorV4.2 (REd/SS32) onwards, changes to any mixer settings/knobs will activate  '|File|Mix Save' & keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Alt+Q or Ctrl+Q.
  2. ONLY Changes to Mixer Build, Routing (ie resulting from using Edit) and toggle of Automation Enabled/Disabled will result in a message " Save Mix changes to SFile or PCFile?" when attempting to Open another mixer, or to Exit Editor, without having saved recently. ALL other changes must be saved Manually, or be handled by the Arr Automation. NOTE: from EditorV4.2 (REd/SS32) onwards, changes to any mixer settings/knobs will activate  message " Save Mix changes to SFile or PCFile?" when attempting to Open another mixer, or to Exit Editor.
  3. HDR1 Only: Input (1/2) - Dig/Analog selection choice is saved with |Settings|Save Settings; this determines which signal appears at the Mix Channel In1-2.
  4. * Users of SpinAudio SpinDelay Plugin - SpinDelay parameters in any mixer are dependant on EXTERNALLY set Configuration Manager ( "C:\Program Files\Spin Audio\SpinDelay for Soundscape\dspcfg.exe" before starting Editor) as, it appears, percentages of the maximum delays for each type in the prevailing Configuration parameters, not actual values. This means if you set up SpinDelay in a mixer to have correct delays, save the mix, re-configure SpinDelay, and then later re-open the same mix, the wrong delays appear. So you must also save the spindelay .cfg file ( C:\Program Files\Spin Audio\SpinDelay for Soundscape\xxxxxxx.cfg ) with your backup of project, and use this when restoring, or you will not get the same delay settings.

|Settings|AVI Player|Offset|Save To AVI File:

  • Saves current AVI Offset with the AVI file.

Notes:

  1. EditorV3.3 & below saves Offset within AVI file;
  2. EditorV3.5 & above saves offset in separate file (.svo) in the same PC folder as the AVI resides, unless that folder is unavailable, whereupon it is saved in C : \ Soundscape \ AVI
