PRO-ANGLER.....a
visit to the geelong store
A visit to the Geelong Pro-Angler store is a big event for the
club members at Sunshine Fly Casting Club. I am lucky enough to work at Werribee
and it was only a short drive to the Geelong store.

The night is a big event for us as its an excuse to have dinner
and a few Sherbets. We had dinner at the Commun Na Feine near the footy ground.
Beauty! Tuesday night is cheap Parma night. By the time we ordered our meal,
grabbed a beer and sat down, we had dinner on the table.
Great stuff. Must go back there when we go to Portarlington in
summer. Gavin and the Geelong boys shared dinner with us. A nice way to spend
the evening after a hectic day of teaching.

I was a bit embarrassed about walking into the store at Geelong.
I promised myself not to buy anything and a promise is a promise. I tried to
avoid eye contact with Gavin as I stumbled around the store. This technique
would work.
Around a dozen members rocked up for the night. We had more
Sherbets to drink I avoided them in case I got into a spending spree. Teachers
have perfect self control. They fed us well with sausage rolls chips and the
usual healthy stuff.
It was good talking to the Pro-Angler boys. They shared their
experiences about the wonderful Trout trips to New Zealand and awesome
adventures chasing the Saltwater fish on some remote island in the Pacific. I
was shown some new flies and even some golden oldies that have long since exited
the tying books.
In addition, Gavin gave us some terrific discounts on all items.
Mr self control could not help himself and bought a shirt, jumper , dubbing,
hooks and some red and white saltwater flies. The red and white saltwater flies
will be used to make 2 picture framed flies to be presented to the organisers at
the World Championships in Scotland.
We have to acknowledge the fact that Pro-Angler does a lot for
the fishing industry and clubs in general. Gavin is ever so helpful in your
questions and if you need things, he'll courier them out to you pronto. Now
that's service for you!
Yep, a wonderful night for the Sunshine guys. Thanks Pro-Angler.
