In the same dwelling as Andrew Spalding in the 1850 Census of Buffalo, are living a probable daughter, Isabel, age 24, b. Scot. and her husband Joseph Vivian b. England. They have two children, Margaret, age 3, and William, age 1 (both b. NY). A number of other persons are also living in this place, but it is not possible to say which ones, except for Isabel, are related to the Spaldings.

April 21, 1928William Spaulding Vivian, aged 79 years, died at his home at 59 South Macomb street at 4:30 a.m. today. He had suffered a stroke of apoplexy late in November, and complications subsequently developed. He was confined to his bed for about 12 weeks. Mr. Vivian had been a resident of Monroe for abut 32 years, coming here from Burlington, Iowa. He married Alice Baker November 24, 1880, at Clayton, Michigan and they took up their residence in Monroe immediately. Mr. Vivian was born at Buffalo, New York, on January 27, 1849. He is survived by the widow, Alice Baker Vivian, a son E. B. Vivian of 425 Borgess avenue, and four grand children; two sisters, Josephine Vivian of 802 South Harrison street, and Mrs. Margaret Wilson of Massilon, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be held from the home at 59 South Macomb street at three o'clock Monday afternoon, with the Rev. S. W. McClelland, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be made in Woodlawn [sic] cemetery. The relatives request that there be no flowers.

Dies at Age of 86
Mrs. Alice Vivian, 86 years old, died suddenly of a heart attack at 8 o'clock this morning in the home of Mrs. Virginia Sherman, 212 East First street, where she had been visiting. Mrs Vivian's home was at 59 South Macomb street.Funeral services will be held at the Earle Little funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Wilfred Simpson of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. The body will remain in the funeral home until after the services.
Mrs. Vivian was born in New York state, January 9, 1858, and came to Monroe following her marriage to William Vivan on November 24, 1880, at Clayton, Michigan. Mr. Vivian died April 21, 1928.
Mrs. Vivian was a member of the Presbyterian church and a charter member of Monroe Chapter No. 226, Order of Eastern Star. She also was a member of the Maccabees.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Morton, and a half sister, Mrs.??. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. George Arthur Morton, both of Broadalbin, New York; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her only son, Edward Vivian, died June 25, 1943.

Simpson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial was in Woodland cemetery. Mrs. Vivian's home was at 59 South Macomb street.
Pallbearers were Eugene C. Betz, Jack Ellis, Leon Quick, Walter Niedermeier, Cyrus Olmsted and Carl Luft.
Mrs. Vivian had lived in Monroe since 1880 and was a member of the Presbyterian church and a charter member of the Monroe Chapter no. 226, Order of Eastern Star.

WELL KNOWN LOCAL CITIZEN DIES AT 70S. Hume Vivian, 76, for more than 68 years a resident of Monroe county passed away at his home, 317 South Monroe street, at 5:15 this morning. He had been in failing health for the past two years. He was born at Buffalo, N.Y., August 27, 1858 and at an early age his parents settled in Monroe county where he had resided since. Besides his widow, one son, Leslie, in the United Marine Corps, Quantico, Virginia, one brother and a sister, Josephine, both of Monroe, survive.

The body of Mrs. Hattie Vivian, who died at her home in Charleston, South Carolina, Friday, was to be brought to the Mulholland funeral home this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, where services will be held Tuesday at 2 p. m. The Rev. B. F. Holme, pastor of St. Paul's Methodist Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.
Leslie Vivian, son of Mrs. Vivian, flew from San Diego, California, and arrived in Toledo today at 11:30a.m. Mrs. Vivian was the widow of Hume Vivian, They formerly made their home here. She was the former Hattie Hendershot.

DEATH OF A. B. SPALDING
Albert Burch Spalding, who lived for several years in the Perrin community before moving to the Stewartsville community, died Sunday. His death was from a sudden heart attack, although he had not been in very good health for quite a while.
He was born September 11, 1866, at Monroe, Mich., and was 76 years, 5 months and 24 days old.
He came to Missouri at the age of eighteen, and followed the occupation of farming until he retired a few years ago.He was married December 24, 1891, to Miss Cynthia Ella Morgan, who survives.
To them were born ten children, five of whom are living: Wm. of Amity, Claude of Maysville, Raymond of the U. S. Navy, Ernest of Minnesota, and Mrs. Gladys Shewey of Cameron.
One son and four grandsons are serving their country in the armed forces.
Sixteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two brothers and two sisters also survive.
Mr. Spalding had been a member of the Christian church since early life.The funeral was held at the Lyon chapel at Stewartsville, Wednesday afternoon, and burial was in the Stewartsville cemetery.
J. E. Shoemaker and C. F. Ward of Plattsburg were at Stewartsville to be present at the funeral.

Mrs. Agnes Rea Kull, 86, of 127 W. Noble Ave. died at 6:30 a.m. today in her home of a heart attack. Coroner Harold F. Maurice was called.
Friends may call after 7 tonight at the Maurice Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, with the Rev. George Clavet of Dearborn officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Born Jan 1, 1874, at Petersburg, she was the daughter of William and Susan Burch Spalding. She was married to Frank Kull June 12, 1900, at Petersburg by the Rev. E.H. Bradfield. They made their home at Monroe. Mr. Kull died Nov. 30, 1954.

Dies in MonroeMrs. Agnes Kull, aged 86, of 127 W. Noble Ave., Monroe, passed away at 6:30 Saturday morning, July 30, in her home, death being due to a heart attack.
Born January 1st, 1874, in Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late William and Susan Burch Spalding. Her girlhood days were spent in Petersburg and she attended the local school. On June 12, 1900, she was united in marriage to Frank Kull in Petersburg, the ceremony being performed by Rev. E. H. Bradfield, Presbyterian minister here at that time. Since her marriage Mrs, Kull has resided in Monroe and she was preceded in death by her husband on Nov., 30, 1954. Mrs. Kull was also preceded in death by a sister, Belle Spalding. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Yeary of Monroe; five grandchildren, and eight great-grand-children.

Frank J. KullFrank J. Kull, 78, of 127 W. Noble Ave. died at 3:45 a.m. today in Monroe Hospital, where he was taken after suffering a stroke Monday night. Coroner Norman Capaul was called.
Friends may call at the Maurice funeral home after 7 tonight. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Herbert C. Carnell of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.The son of Jacob and Alice Kull, he was born here June 15, 1876. He married Agnes Spalding June 12, 1900, at Petersburg with the Rev. E. H. Brodfield performing the ceremony. A blacksmith, he retired 20 years ago. He was a member of Monroe Lodge 19, IOOF. He also was a member of the old Monroe Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Floyd Yeary of Maybee; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.Frank Kull operated the Kull Wagon Works with and after his Father, Jacob Kull, and Uncle, William Kull.

J. Stewart Spalding
J. Stewart Spalding, 83, died at 12:20 p.m. Sunday at his home, 4608 North Custer road. He had been in poor health for three weeks and suffered a stroke Friday morning from which he failed to rally.
He was born May 6, 1862 in Frenchtown township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Spalding, and on December 28, 1892 married Aristine Marshall at Brest. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. S. Edwards.
Mr. Spalding is survived by his wife; four sons, Albert of Raisinville, Richard of Dayton, Ohio, Clayton of South Haven and Edward of Stony Pointe Beach; two daughters, Annie of Monroe and Mrs. Ruth Mulhollen of Belleville; 14 great-grand-children and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Frederick of Traverse City.The body is at the Earle Little funeral home where services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday with the Rev. Leon Toepfer in charge. Burial will be in Petersburg cemetery.

MRS. J. STEWARD SPALDINGMrs. J. Steward (Aristine) Spalding, 75, died of complications at her home, 4608 North Custer Rd., at 4:45 a.m. today. She had been ill the past three months.
Mrs. Spalding was born Feb. 15, 1873, at Brest and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Marshall whose parents were some of the earliest settlers of Brest. She married J. Steward Spalding Dec. 30, 1892 at the home of her parents on the Stoney Pointe Rd.
Mrs. Spalding was a lifetime member of the East Raisinville United Brethren Evangelical Church, a charter member of the Ladies Aid Society, an honorary member of the Legion Auxiliary, and a Gold Star mother of the First World War. Mrs. Spalding had been very active in the church until the last three months. Mr. Spalding died two years ago. Also three sons and one daughter preceded her in death.
Survivors are two daughters, Miss Annie Spalding, who is at home, and Mrs. Lloyd Mulhollen of Ypsilanti, four sons, Albert Spalding at home, Richard Spalding of Dayton, Ohio, Clayton Spalding of Southhaven and Edward Spalding of Stoney Pointe, a sister Mrs. Byron Aseltyne of Stoney Pointe, a nephew, Elmer Marshall of Brest, and a niece, Mrs. William Ray of Brest.
The body is at the Earle Little funeral home. Arrangements for the funeral have not as yet been completed.

MONROE BOY DIES
AT CAMP CUSTER
Eugene Spalding son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Spalding of Raisinville township died at Camp Custer, Battle Creek this morning at one o'clock. Death resulting from pneumonia. Mr. Spalding was sent on the draft call from Detroit in September. He was twenty-three years of age. The remains will probably be brought to the home of his parents in Raisinville Township.
