Mary's birth date is not confirmed it is just a possible reference but it is a common name. See notes for John Brown. The IGI incorrectly lists the birth date as 1769. From the film is can be seen that the date is listed as 1766.

Note in the 1871 census for Larkhall, Mrs Petter Spalding and grand daughter Mary Lang are listed. Mary Thomson's age is shown as 55 but it should be closer to 75.
