The Hendersons are connected to the Sherwood family through the marriage of Jane Luddon Henderson to Arthur Gordon Sherwood in 1909. Jane Sherwood nee Henderson's
family can be traced back to Falkirk, Scotland. It was there in 1818 that
her great grandfather Thomas Henderson I married Janet Allan. Two years
later in 1820, their son Thomas Henderson II was born at Dalgety Castle,
Aberdeenshire.
Thomas Henderson I was a gardener and was most likely employed at Dalgety
when his son was born there. Several years later a daughter Sarah was
born. Around 1891 the Henderson family left Doctors Creek and selected land at Balrooten, near Nhill, Victoria. The Hendersons established a successful wheat farm at Balrooten. In 1906 Thomas died of heart failure. He was 63. Agnes moved to Melbourne in 1909, where she bought a house in Brunswick. Agnes died in Melbourne in 1925. She was 73.
