I  once was a child of the shadows
Struggling alone each day
I lived in a world without pity or hope
No light to show me the way
Then into my ear came a whisper
There’s somebody you should know
I turned about to see who was there
And looked into eyes where love softly glowed

The voice that I heard was so gentle
Yet with awesome power and might
It smashed down the walls of my prisoner heart
Then gave it wings to take flight
Straight into the arms of my Saviour
And into the light of His throne
No more to be lost in the shadows of life
Safe in his love I’ve come home
