Father send the Comforter I pray
Jesus gave this promise long ago
That when He went away
He’d send another who could stay
Lord I need His presence with me now

With my soul in distress I cry to Thee
For You alone can know the mystery
That causes such great pain to rise within
In Your mercy send the Comforter to me

He opens my life’s book and turns it’s pages
He gently peels away the scars of ages
From years of broken trust and shattered dreams
In a heart full of tears and silent screams

With infinite tenderness He holds me till I’m still
Tending my wounds with all the Master’s skill
Pouring in His oil and love until the ache has gone
Giving me the strength to carry on

Father how can I thank You for a gift so great as this
That’s like a Daddy’s love with a Mothers healing kiss
To a hurting child who knows no way to tell of what it feels
Your compassion sends the Comforter to love, to hold, and heal
