DOUBLE TROUBLE

The night was dark and stormy the wind was howling loud
Then beyond a tree I saw the suggestion of a shroud
My heart it leapt within my breast fear rose up inside
I looked around and in the ground I found a place to hide

The hole had been made ready for the burial next day
But for tonight right out of sight here in this hole I lay
Was that a sound I heard above? The shadows are so frightening
The shroud was just a wispy cloud but now there’s so much lightning

Thunder rumbles long and loud the rain is belting down
should I stay or should I go? I fear in here I’ll drown
I think it’s best that I should go before I’m caught inside
The hole is deep and slippery it’s long but not too wide

I cannot get a foothold there is no way to climb
The rain continues pouring and I’m trapped here in this slime
Will I be alive tomorrow when the burial is done
Or will their be another body will there be two instead of one.
