A Dollar a Day

Little bodies frail and thin
Paying for someone else's sin
Who's to love them who's to care
If God's people will not share

Which of us has known starvation
Or lived in abject deprivation
Can we not spare a loving touch
We who live in this land of much

They pay the price for some senseless war
With horror, disease and so much more
Where is the family that loved each child so
Butchered and buried a long time ago

Tho' we cant alter what's gone in the past
They can have a future to look to at last
Give just a little and with it rejoice
Soften your heart and hear the Lord's voice

You'll hear Him saying "Do unto others
For have I not made you all sisters and brothers"
We can give of His love in a practical way
We can save a childs life with a dollar a day

A dollar's so little it won't buy us bread
It won't buy a sheet to put on our warm bed
It won't fill our fridge or put fuel in our cars
But it will go a long way to heal a child's scars.
