Sites and Layouts Lots of Australian layouts and interesting railway related sites of information.

Australian Shops and Manufacturers. Shops and manufactures of Australian models, bits and pieces etc.

DCC Manufacturers. Manufacturers of DCC systems, components etc.

A special thank you, to three people that have helped me enormously, through their web sites. Without modellers like these 3, we would still be bumbling about in DCC. When first getting into DCC or just browsing for very informative help, sites like these help enormously. Their efforts to help others and to promote DCC are really appreciated. I don’t know how they find the time to do it and find time to run trains and keep a real job that pays for all of this.

Mark Gurries with his fantastic Silicon Valley Lines. Mark has provided DCC presentations and tutorials and lots of valuable DCC information. Mark always provides, on my Yahoo NCE group and others, technical explanations to so many questions.

Allan Gartner with his Wiring for DCC that has all the answers and more about how to do, all things DCC for beginners and the not so beginners.

Joe Fugate - His magnificent Siskiyou Lines layout and now has videos about model railroading including DCC.

·        Joe is the true pioneer of light globes in DCC that were used in DCC. See Joe’s “Mushroom concept” layout design.

·        See Joe’s really informative video about the use of the 1156.

·        Joe’s concept of dividing the layout into the much smaller areas - train blocks, enables him to have 3 or 4 diesel lash ups in the front of a train and the possibility of having up to 6 to 8 locos in one operator area. Without the smaller areas, (train blocks), Joe’s 1156s would impact on the operation of his locos significantly.

·        While I don’t use the 1156s in exactly the same method as Joe does, I feel that they are the easiest, cheapest and a fantastically simple method for power division to stop the booster from tripping out and an easy visual indicator of seeing where a short is. No troubleshooting, just look for the illuminated line side building on the layout, and there’s the short. How easy is that.

My DCC trip would have been much harder, so with DCC theory, explanations and answers provided by these great modellers, that have given so much of their time, to help us, the future of DCC is exciting and everybody can benefit. DCC or similar control systems are the future control of model railroads that everybody will be using.

Also thanks to Josh Beveridge for getting me started with this web site with something simple, so that even I can make and maintain a web site. Josh’s excellent NSW Rolling Stock web site has lots of information about my NSW prototype wagons.
