Metal World Design

The Farmer's design started off fairly realistic and then progressed to a caricature. I forced the design more and more to get a cartoony look.

The Farmer's trusty dog. The design followed a similar style to the farmer.

The sheep's construction was similar to the construction of the sheep in Aardman's "A Close Shave". I tried to change my design so they would not look like the Aardman sheep. I guess sheep are sheep and you can only draw them so many ways. I don't think I succeeded in getting away from the Aardman sheep. *mental note* no more sheep in my films!

In the film you can see one of the sheep is hitting on another sheep, but sadly no one has spotted the joke to date. That's what you get for trying to be too clever.

The machine design started more like a cross between a bull and a locomotive then changed to a sprawling factory.

The machine was built by Roger Ferdinando who made Porter's End with me. The machine was made from mdf board and bits from an old washing machine!  Roger did a fantastic job and the confrontation between the farmer and the machine is the best shot in the film.
