WHO ARE WE?
The staff believe in women's rights and equality. They are concerned
about justice and fairness in all aspects of women s lives. The staff advocate for the individual rights of the child, especially in the areas of sexual assault and the effects of domestic violence on children.
Their work is based on the belief that women can take charge of their own lives. Women are offered support and advocacy and are encouraged to make their own decisions regarding their future.
WHAT SERVICES DO WE PROVIDE?
- Crisis accommodation
- Early intervention and prevention
- Short term crisis counseling
- Domestic violence support group
- Adult survivors of child sexual assault group
- Child therapy
- Domestic violence support group for children
INFORMATION GIVEN REGARDING:
- Legal matters: apprehended violence orders; family law issues including residency and contact orders, property settlement and child support.
- Housing: information about the Department of Housing, Community Housing Schemes and information on private rental matters.
- Parenting: appropriate referrals for ongoing support.
WHO CAN USE THE SERVICE?
- Women, and dependant children who are victims of domestic violence
- Women who are seeking support in court matters: family court, DV
- Women with children who are victims of child abuse.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The refuge is staffed seven days a week:
Monday - Friday 8.00am - 10.00pm
Saturday - Sunday 4.00pm - 10.00pm
