Why choose OS&E?

Michael is dedicated to sustainability, and to assisting you in incorporating sustainability into your business - your developments - your products - to your clients and customers.

Michael has experience in both the public and private sectors in the development assessment arena, addressing key issues of water and air quality, flora and fauna, cultural heritage, waste management, town planning, landscape planning, and regulatory requirements under relevant environmental and planning legislation.

Prior to heading out on his own, Michael was engaged by a Brisbane-based private consultancy to support the development industry, providing advice on a wide range of environmental and sustainability issues, including energy efficiency, water efficiency, water sensitive urban design, habitat management, climate responsive design, and including social outcomes to achieve sustainability.

He has worked with a number of State and Local Governments in Queensland, Australia, furthering sustainable development through identifying barriers and constraints, devising strategies and policies, coordinating partnerships, and engaging stakeholders.

Through his experience in the public and private sectors, Michael has established relationships with a network of skilled professionals - specialists in environmental issues and sustainable design and technology - with whom he can connect and engage with on the relevant aspects of your project, to ensure that solutions happen.

Michael stepped in to help us after our previous sustainability consultant was unable to deliver the services we required. Since then he has been engaged to work with us in developing 'The Green' on various projects.

As a consultant Michael is unique. On the one hand he has 'worked on the inside', and is able to more easily navigate the inner sanctum of both local and state government departments - his experience of both the processes and the culture within Government is highly valued. On the other hand, his experience working with developers and traditional consultancies gives him a clear understanding of the financial and time constraints faced by his clients.

Michael's career path illustrates his passion for a more sustainable world. This passion and his commitment to his clients will ensure that he is able to make a positive contribution to his client's projects and, more importantly, a significant contribution to the state of the world we live in.

In addition to starting OS&E, Michael is also part of the internationally renowned sustainability group, SustainUs (www.SustainUs.com) as Senior Associate, based here in Brisbane. Michael is also an Independent Associate of the AtKisson Inc global sustainability network (www.atkisson.com), lead by Alan AtKisson, a world renowned exponent of sustainability, and author of Believing Cassandra - An optimist looks at a pessimist's world. Through SustainUs and AtKisson Inc, Michael is able to connect his clients to some of the leading experts in sustainability worldwide, and to use those connection to achieve genuine results.

The advantage to you is the ability to tap into years of accumulated experience in the application of sustainability - in government agencies, communities, and business - and to identify proven techniques and solutions to help you achieve more sustainable business and project outcomes.

Put simply, Michael's vision for his clients, through both OS&E and SustainUs to "Accelerate Sustainability“ –  to help his clients understand the benefits to business through managing impacts on the natural environment, to identify how sustainable outcomes and business practices relate to their business and opportunities for increased profitability, and to make the transition to sustainability for businesses and communities - and for you - his clients - as easy as possible.
