Draft CD resource - Home> Responsibilities of training providers (CD) > Disability Standards for Education > Participation

The provider must ‘take reasonable steps’ to ensure that students with a disability can participate in its courses and use its facilities and services.  In doing this, the provider must consult with a student and decide whether they need to make an adjustment to ensure that the student has access.

The Standards describe some ways that providers can demonstrate compliance, including:

  • Offering flexibility in course or program activities

  • Reviewing course requirements to include activities in which the student can participate

  • Providing appropriate support to help the student achieve their learning goals

  • Replacing an activity that the student cannot do, with another that can reasonably be substituted

  • Ensuring that all activities, including extra-curricular activities, are accessible
