Providers must make sure that people with
a disability can seek enrolment or admission to their programs.
When thinking about enrolment, you need
to think about:
-
Access to information how do you
provide information about your courses, how do you collect enrolment
details
-
How enrolment applications are lodged
for example, are enrolment counters accessible
-
How are enquiries dealt with do staff
know about the Communication Relay Service, for example
-
Entry requirements what are the entry
requirements
Although the
standards dont mention this, it is important to think about what the
requirements are for students to successfully complete the course and gain
the qualification. These are part of the
inherent
requirements of the course.
Also identify
any non-negotiables required by industry.
If these requirements are not a part of the program you are offering, you
cannot exclude someone if you think that they might not meet the
industry requirements for employment. You should, however, inform all
students of industry requirements for employment following study.
If there are any entry
requirements, or identified inherent requirements, these must be included in
standard information about a program.
