SOME BASIC FACTS ABOUT THE ASID

The Australian Society of Implant Dentistry is the oldest society related to the subject of dental implants in Australia.

We are not affiliated to, nor do we accept an form of financial assistance from any dental or implant companies. This ensures that we are free to study all aspects, brands and modalities of implant dentistry, free of any possible bias. In turn, this allows us the freedom to give our members and the patients who seek our assistance the best and most unbiased advise possible.

Members are encouraged to undertake our accreditation program, as part of their education in dental implantology. Our society is the only body that offers this facility. Some members have agreed to having their names published in our listing of members. Those who have satisfied the criteria for accreditation have been highlighted in bold , for your convenience.

ACCREDITATION

The Australian Society of Implant Dentistry conducts an accreditation program for our members.

It is a three-stage program, with each stage covering progressively more complex material. Before progressing up the stages, the candidates have to pass a written examination. Once they have completed Stage III, and satisfied the examination requirements, Accredited Status is awarded to the member.

While this program of accreditation is not an official qualification, it does indicate that the member has satisfied certain educational standards. Hopefully, this will allow patients to feel more confident in their selection of the dentist to provide their implant dentistry. Of course, there are members with a great deal of knowledge and experience in implant dentistry, who have not participated in the accreditation program, and the fact that they are not accredited does not necessarily reflect on their qualifications or abilities.
