THE ROAD TO DAMASCUS.

Oil on linen 81.5x102 cm. $1,200 AUD

Paul was struck down by a light from heaven and became blind for three days when he was on his way to persecute the Jews who became Christians in Damascus.

He heard a voice: "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"

"Who are you, Lord?" he asked, and the voice answered, "I am Jesus and you are persecuting me."

From that time Paul was converted and became an ardent follower of Christ, teaching Jews and Gentiles about Jesus Christ, the Messiah. (Acts of the Apostles, Ch.9)

The tanks and the burning oil wells in the background relate the persecution of innocent people today to the suffering of innocents in the time of Paul.
