The wonders of our Universe are a source of delight and amazement for me. The vastness of outer space is really beyond my comprehension when I ponder the distances. Some stars and galaxies are so far away, that it takes light millions of years to arrive from these. What we see at any moment in the sky in fact happened many hours, years or even millions of years ago.
The images of stars, galaxies and clouds of stellar dust and hydrogen were taken by very powerful telescopes on earth and in space (the Hubble Space Telescope). Our eyes cannot register the colours shown, but long exposure photographs show the true colours of these objects. I used these images in the paintings with some artistic license, putting constellations, stars and other objects in the sky in places that do not represent their true positions or distances from each other.
The Universe reflects on itself through our awareness of it, and our consciousness explores the depths of our own inner being as well as outer reality. Both these worlds inspire in me awe and reverence for creation, the Creator and each human being I encounter.
