Elemental Embrace of Chaos and Cosmos

Oil on canvas 122x92cm. $1,200AUD
There are creative and destructive forces in our Universe. They both play important parts in forming the stars, galaxies, nebulae and other objects which we observe in the night sky. The dark male figure of Chaos is like a huge cloud of gas and dust in outer space, embracing the female figure of Cosmos. Her head is a nebula, her garment and body made from the filaments of billions of stars which are distributed in space in such a way that there are vast voids between them. The bright lights surrounding the black clouds are the regions where stars are born from the heat and pressure produced by gravitation. When a star blows up (Supernova), its constituents of gas and dust are scattered in space and eventually new stars, planets and even living beings can come form this! We are all made of the stuff of stars!
