Black Holes

A Black Hole is formed at the end of a supernova, when a massive star collapses on itself. Its gravity pulls on everything that gets close enough, including light and objects. Some people don't believe they exist, because you can't see them. Others think that you can conclude that they exist because they swallow up light and stars. You couldn't get close to a black hole because you would be crushed into a million atoms and get blasted out of existence.

These pictures show a star exploding (in infra red) and the remnants of a supernova explosion. If the exploding star is smaller than the sun, it will collapse into a neutron star. If it is bigger than the sun it will collapse and form a black hole.
