Steven Brandon (Director/Founder)
Having completed a Masters of Arts Management at UTS and a Media and Communications degree at Macquarie University, Steven co-founded Canned Laughter. Steven starred in several university comedy revues, directed two AUJS revues and has performed in many productions including "Picasso at the Lapin Agile", "Puberty Blues" "Fame", "West Side Story" and has played regularly in Theatresports at Belvoir Street Theatre. Twice a grand-finalist in the prestigious Cranston Cup, Steven has captained the winning team for three years at Kosher Theatresports. Since forming Canned Laughter, Steven has been a glutten for punishment and starred in and produced "P*psters","Noises Off","A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum", "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change" and the award winning "Urinetown the Musical" while also directing the latter three. In 2006, Steven directed the hit cabaret show "Valentine's Schmalentines" and produced the Sydney premiere of "Tick... Tick... Boom!" and the smash-hit sold out season of "Rent", followed by "Closer" at the Newtown Theatre. In 2007 Steven produced and acted in "Lend Me a Tenor."
Steven is currently living and working in New York.
Joshua Brandon (Director)
Joshua has been writing and directing various pieces of theatre and film since he was young. He has a degree in Media and Communications and is in the midst of an Honours Degree in American Political History. Joshua, also a regular Theatresports competitor, directed Canned Laughter's production of "Noises Off" in March 2004 and also a widely acclaimed production of "12 Angry Men" later in the year. He directed the 2005 UNSW Law Revue and produced Canned Laughter's award-winning production of "Urinetown". Josh directed Canned Laughter's recent productions of "Rent", "Closer" and "Lend Me a Tenor".
Dave Bloustien (Founder)
One of the co-founders of Canned Laughter, Dave Bloustien is a writer, improviser, stand-up comedian and academic. He started writing community plays in Adelaide and drawing cartoons for the University newspaper. In 1998, he was named Player of the Year at the Sydney Kosher Theatresports competition, and went on to create P*psters, the very first production from Canned Laughter, in 2002.As a stand-up comedian, Dave has been seen on Channel 31 and at many of the hottest venues around Sydney. Recently he was one of five new comics picked to support Arj Barker (US) at The Comedy Store. In 2004, Dave will be going to Adelaide with three other new comedians as 'Shock of the New', performing at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Currently, Dave writes for the hugely successful comedy / topical chat show 'The Glass House' on ABC and also tours with his comedy shows.
