According to his son's Death Certificate Thomas was a Master Mason.
The marriage reference is the only one found for Thomas and Janet Hamilton. It is a little earlier than expected but it is possible. No reference to John Scott's birth can be identified in the IGI, Scotland's OPRs or the BIVRI.
It is assumed that the Thomas Scott born to William Scott and Jean Rae (RUE) is this Thomas as the date lines up and Thomas' first son is called William. The William was also a Mason like Thomas.
The marriage is also recorded as 1764 in the IGI.
