Mr. Walter Baxendell, of Westcliffe-road, Birkdale, Southport, Lancs, retired miller and corn merchant, late of the Bee Mills, Sandhills, and the Sun Mills, Manchester, who began work in a small mill at the age of 13, and who died April 24, aged 70, left estate of the gross value of 153,977 pounds, with net personal wealth of 153,860 pounds.  The testator left: 100 pounds to his old servant, Jane Anson, as an acknowledgement of long and faithful services and 30 pounds to each domestic servant of two years' service.
