Windsurfing on the Murray
Can it be done?
Is it possible to ride a windsurfer board 2,224 Kms from the Hume Weir near Albury to the mouth of the Murray River?
Why?
As a physical challenge, for fun and to raise funds for charity.
Notes!
1. 'Ride' means sail, paddle, drag, pull, push, carry and whatever else it takes Rod to get the board to the Murray Mouth using only his effort and the renewable energy of wind and current.
2. The trip is being attempted in stages, which are not necessarily in sequence. This is to fit in with Rod's other commitments, and the availability of land crews.
3. When land crews are not available Rod travels down the River alone, towing two supposedly waterproof barrels which contain camping and cooking gear. At about 4 pm each day he looks out for a suitable place to pull in to the bank and camp overnight.
