The typical woman the Roman Catholic Church is destroyed around the beginning of the last three and a half years of this age. Then Babylon the Great comes into its own. The Antichrist is now ruling and the 'image of the beast' is the religious system of his empire.

Revelation 18:9-19 brings out the commercial side of this last great empire. The Antichrist's counterfeit kingdom of God is a time of good fortune for those who go along with it.

There will be a time of prosperity, perhaps with a few set backs, before the Antichrist receives his 'deadly wound'. With the European super-power to fight against an Islamic confederation and then mount a campaign against the Anglo-Saxon-Celts it would imply a prosperous society to underpin its offensives. Paul Kennedy in his book The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers: Economic Change and Military Conflict 1500 to 2000 wrote "wealth is usually needed to underpin military power, and military power is usually needed to acquire and protect wealth" (page xvi). The Antichrist will be able to capitalize on the success of a Holy Roman Empire adapted to the 21st century in the next upswing of the long-wave economic cycle beginning after the coming depression. This success will be facilitated by building upon the advances in technology developed in the closing 'bubble' stage of the last political/economic long-wave cycle of the 20th Century.

The territorial empire of Babylon the Great will include Europe, the Middle-East, the United Kingdom, and most of North America. Through its world dominance it will exercise defacto rule over the rest of the world.

With the resources of his empire the Satan-possessed beast-person, who is able to understand the seasons and fundamental conditions ordained by God "for the life and actions of men," will be able to manipulate them to his advantage. As a result Babylon the Great will be the most fabulously wealthy and prosperous empire the world has ever seen.

(This is similar to the position of the kingdom of Israel in the millennium. But Christ will rule and be a blessing to the world through His nation of Israel in a godly way).

This will be Satan's counterfeit of Jesus Christ's 1,000 years of true peace and prosperity. This will be man's last great attempt to create for himself a Garden of Eden apart from the true God. The world will be deceived by this and will then reject Christ and fight Him for bringing their utopia to an end.

"The Western world was waiting, with bated breath, till an Emperor of the West should make his entry into Jerusalem. Ever new prophecies hinged on the great event: he who rides into Jerusalem as King will bring the long-awaited Reign of Peace before the Antichrist shall come" (Ernest Kantorowicz, Frederick the Second 1194-1250, page 167).

"How the hammer of the whole world has been cut apart and broken! How Babylon has become a desolation among the nations!" (Jeremiah 50:23).

The starting point of Revelation 18 is two and a half years into the tribulation. This is the time when God begins to directly intervene to bring this age to a close.

The angel announces "that Babylon the great is fallen is fallen" (Revelation 18:2). What this may imply, is that the coming fall of Babylon is going to take place in two stages. It may also imply that Babylon the Great of the Antichrist is to fall and that the career of Babylon, that great ancient city, that has held sway over the world ever since she gave birth to this rebellion age, is also over.

Babylon the Great will so corrupt the world that it will be at its most God-opposing extreme of the age. Now it is pay back time. This pay back is in two stages. The "wrath of the Lamb" of one year's duration is stage 1. The "great day of his wrath", a literal day, is stage 2. (See Appendix 1).

"Therefore her plagues will come in one day - death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges" (Revelation 18:8).

This is a telescopic verse in the sense that it appears to be one event, but it is in fact two separate but subsequent events.

"Therefore her plagues will come in one day - death and mourning and famine" refer to the year long 'day of the Lord'. While the fire belongs to "the battle of great day of God Almighty".

So in one verse we have covered a period of one year to arrive at the last great battle of this age.

The "wrath of the Lamb" comprises seven trumpets. The trumpets announce the coming battle which in the chronological story of Revelation takes place from 19:11. This battle is stage 2 of the fall of Babylon when Christ returns to the earth in person to bring this age to a close.

"Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go to the kings of the earth and of the world, to gather them to battle of that great day of God Almighty" (Revelation 16:12-14).

The beast and his allies are going to fight Christ as His return. These allies have shared in the luxuries of Babylon and so they have to be punished for their partaking in Babylon the Great's sin.

"The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will lament for her... And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore: merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls... wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men..." (Revelation 18:9-13).

In this description of the luxury goods no specific countries are associated with them. But in the typical description of these goods in Ezekiel 27 there are. Ancient Tyre is a type of Babylon the Great. The lament of Revelation 18 "is modelled after Ezekiel's lamentation over Tyre (chap. 27). Fifteen of the twenty-nine commodities listed in Revelation 18:12-13 are also found in Eze 27:12-22" (Robert H. Mounce, Revelation, New International Commentary on the New Testament, page 331).

One category of goods are "bodies and souls of men" (Revelation 18:13b). "Bodies are slaves, an eloquent commentary on the way slave-traders approached their subject. Souls of men are also slaves (as in the Hebrew of Ezk. 27:13" (Leon Morris, Revelation, Tyndale, page 213). (cp. Joel 3:3).

"Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your traders. They bartered human lives and vessels of bronze for your merchandise" (Ezekiel 27:13).

It appears that "the kings from the east" (Revelation 16:12) are to be associated with the end-time descendants of "Tubal and Meshech" of Ezekiel 27. But the alliance of Ezekiel 38 appears to be a later development resulting from the power vacuum in the 'north' and 'east' after the great day of God Almighty.

"Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. Persia, Ethiopia (Heb: Cush), and Libya (Phut) are with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer and all its troops; the house of Togarmah from the far north and all its troops  - many people are with you" (Ezekiel 38:1-6).

The above verses describe an alliance of peoples that appears on the scene just before the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ is inaugurated. The Millennium is pictured by the First Day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the sixth holy day in God's yearly cycle of Festivals (see the subsection Joshua and Jericho - Jesus and Jerusalem in Appendix 1).

With the coming European superpower having conquered Britain and North America the next logical target would be Russia and the east. These eastern nations though trading with Babylon, nominally worshipping the beast and most likely having non-aggression pacts with her may have a contingency plan to join together if the Beast marches east. We believe that as Napoleon and Hitler came to grief through the invasion of Russia so will the Antichrist.

And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar. And to the others he [the LORD] said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house (Ezekiel 9:2, 5-6).
Eze 10:2 And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city... (Ezekiel 10:2).

"Ezekiel is here simply giving us a glimpse behind the scenes at the cosmic realities that underline history" (Iain M. Duguid, Ezekiel, NIVAC, p.147).

"His celestial agents are ordered to carry out a bloodbath in Jerusalem and to make it a blazing inferno. The description of the sword and fire that the Babylonians would bring to the capital in 587 in terms of the angelic fulfilling of divine commands is reminiscent of the latter apocalyptic representation in the book of Daniel of heavenly conflicts that match their earthly counterparts (see Dan 10:13-14, 20-11:1)" (Leslie C. Allen, Ezekiel 1-19, WBC, p.167).

"When the physical Jerusalem fell to Nebuchadnezzar and was razed to the ground in 586 B.C., the Babylonians were nothing more than the human instruments in the hands of an angry God" (Iain M. Duguid, Ezekiel, NIVAC, p.147).

It appears then that the action in the earthly sphere, of the first woe, corresponding to the action in the 'cosmic' sphere (Revelation 9:1-12; cp. Job 1:6-2:10) could be an invasion of the east by Europe with the second woe (Revelation 9:13-21) a counter-attack by this confederation of kings from the east.

The Northern and Eastern campaigns in the latter part of Antiochus' reign was also his undoing. "Many believers saw his death as a punishment for his attempt to loot the shrine of Nanaia in Elam (in modern Iran)" (EBritannica, Antiochus IV Epiphanes).

In the career of the Antichrist we may have a parallel to what happens after Christ returns. The defining moment for the Antichrist, at the beginning of his reign, will be his receiving and healing of his mortal wound. The world will marvel at this and will pay him homage. This homage will be enforced in his empire through the 'image of the beast'. After consolidating his power and ushering in a period of great prosperity he then invades the eastern nations to bring them directly under his rule - perhaps after a falling out. "Antiochus then mounted a campaign against the Parthians who were threatening the empire in the east" (E Britannica, ibid.). The Eastern nations may only be nominally paying homage to the Beast so as to share in the wealth of Babylon the Great. By conquering them the Antichrist will hope to have the whole world submitting directly to and worshipping him to the extent that he requires.

This would also parallel Antiochus in type. Bevan pointed out that in his last campaign "an important part of the the East would be the strengthening of the Greek cities" (Volume 2, page 160). This would have involved the strengthening of "Greek culture and institutions" which "as a ruler he was best known for"... It was Antiochus' hellenizing policies which "brought him into conflict with the prosperous Oriental temple organizations..." (EBritannica, ibid.).

Christ's return begins the second half of the "seventh" week of Daniel (but see the chapter on Daniel 9 for the telescoping of the seven years of Christ and the seven years of the Antichrist). Christ's first ministry fulfills the first three and a half years, when he raised up the Church - the Israel of God; Christ's second ministry fulfills the second three and a half years when he raises up the Kingdom of Israel. While the nations are defeated at the confrontation at Jerusalem at Christ's return, there is a second confrontation with a group of kings from the North and East before the start of the Millennium proper. Christ first raises up Israel, and other nations, bringing them under His dominion. He then confronts a group of northern and eastern peoples, led by Gog (Ezekiel 38-39), who steps into the power vacuum left in this area after the battle of Jerusalem. Christ then confronts these peoples to bring them directly under his rule and to receive the worship that is due to Him. Christ succeeds where Antiochus, Napoleon, Hitler and the Antichrist fail.

Timur may be a type of Gog:

"Timur was the son of a pious Muslim who headed the Barlas tribe - described by the Encyclopedia Britannica as a "Turkicized" Mongol "subgroup." Rather than nomads, these were settled people, living in an area of agriculture and in the shadow of one of Central Europe's great silk route cities...

"Timur, at the age of thirty-four, was now - in 1370 - the dominant power in Transoxiana. His army was modeled after the armies of Genghis Khan, but with more foot soldiers and drawn more from settled people rather than from nomadic horsemen. It was like the armies of Rome that Marius had created - an army whose loyalty was to its commander rather than to the nation. Timur's army found glory in Timur's reputation as a great warrior.

"T'ovma Metsobets'i's History describes events taking place on the Armenian highlands and in Georgia during the Turco-Mongol invasions of Timur Leng (1386-87, 1394-96, and 1399-1403). These invasions were made upon a society which already had been gravely weakened by the preceding decades of warfare and persecution..." (Robert Bedrosian (New York, 1987), T'ovma Metsobets'i's History of Tamerlane and His Successors,

"Timur ... marched into Syria, where he defeated a Mameluke army. He occupied Damascus  posing as having delivered it from the Christians and from the Mameluke sultan... Timur was deterred from marching further south, to Jerusalem, because of what has been described as a plague of locusts that was ruining crops in Palestine..." (Frank Eugene Smitha, Timur (Tamerlane), (Cp. Ezekiel 39:1-6).

It appears that the seventh trumpet plague, the third woe (Revelation 16), is a means that Christ uses to get the kings of Babylon and the East from fighting each other and to join together to fight against Him.

In Revelation 16 we see that these kings gather together at the staging-ground of Armageddon (verses 12-16) in northern Israel. The battle begins in the chronological plot of Revelation at 19:11 after the retro-prospective prophecy of Revelation 17:1 to 19:10.

"...some time before 954 a monk named Adso...writing in Toul.. maintains that it was the duty of the West Frankish kings, as the true kings of the Franks, to shore up the already crumbling Imperium Romanum and so postpone the coming of the antichrist; the last emperor of all would finally lay down his crown and sceptre on the Mount of Olives" (Friedrich Heer, Holy Roman Empire, page 40).

With Europe reinventing itself to lead the world in the Twenty-first Century it will be able to draw on the false prophecies of the Middle Ages and portray the true Christ as the Antichrist and the enemy of mankind.

"Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, As he fights in the day of battle, and in that day His feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east...Thus the Lord my God shall come, And all the saints with you" (Zechariah 14:3-5).

"Now out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should strike the nations...He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God...And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse" (Revelation 19:15, 21a).

This is the same event described in the second retro-prospective prophecy of Revelation:

"If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand...He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb..." (Revelation 14:9-10; cp. 14-20).

Isaiah wrote about this day:

"For behold, the Lord will come with fire... For by fire and by His sword The Lord will judge all flesh; And the slain of the Lord will be many" (Isaiah 66:15-16).

Christ also spoke of this literal day:

"...but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed" (Luke 17:29-30).

Malachi also wrote:

"For behold, the day is coming, Burning like an oven (Heb: tannuwr), And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up" (Malachi 4:1).

The Hebrew word translated 'oven' in Malachi is translated furnace in Isaiah:

"Then Assyria <The Assyrian (AV)> shall fall by a sword not of man, And a sword not of mankind shall devour him. But he shall flee from the sword, And his young men shall become forced labour. He shall cross over to his stronghold for fear, And his princes shall be afraid of the banner," says the Lord, Whose fire is in Zion And whose furnace (tannuwr) is in Jerusalem" (Isaiah 31:8-9).

We saw earlier that the Antichrist will be an Assyrian/Germanic king (Isaiah 13-14). So here once again in Isaiah we have the typical and antitypical kings of Assyria telescoped together.

The Antichrist and his army will be destroyed through the sword and fire. Jerusalem the capital city of Babylon the Great will also be destroyed by fire. The abominations that have occurred and been instigated by the Antichrist from there calls for a cleansing of the city by fire before the true Christ establishes it as His headquarters.

There has been a looking forward to this fate of the Antichrist:

"For Tophet was established of old, Yes for the king it is prepared. He has made it deep and large; Its pyre is fire with much wood; The breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, Kindles it" (Isaiah 30:33). "And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth with the brightness of His coming" (2 Thessalonians 2:8).

"Tophet = the place of burning. In the valley of Hinnon, the place where continual fires consumed the refuse of Jerusalem" (Bullinger, Companion Bible, note on Isaiah 30:33). It appears that once the fire has run its course it will then concentrate in the valley of Hinnon or similar for at least through the millennium. At the end of the thousand years Satan is also cast into this lake of fire and brimstone (cp. Revelation 19:20; 20:10, 14-15).

Isaiah recorded that "the Lord Whose fire is in Zion And whose furnace (tannuwr) is in Jerusalem" (31:8-9). Owing to the context of the Assyrian this phrase may be taken primarily as a synonymous parallelism. But it could also be secondarily a synthetic parallelism picturing the fire from the reintroduction of a modified sacrificial system in Zion and the furnace of Hinnon during the millennium.

In Isaiah Jerusalem, where it is figuratively called Sodom, Gomorrah and a harlot, was to be purified by fire:

"I will turn My hand against you, And thoroughly purge away your dross, And take away all your alloy" (Isaiah 1:25).

In Revelation Jerusalem is also referred to as Sodom, Egypt and Babylon. Therefore, the city will have to be purified at Christ's return.

"The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, 'Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come'" (Revelation 18:9-10).

Jerusalem is the last representative of the ancient city of Babylon. The fall of Jerusalem is the fall of this great ancient city. Under the Antichrist Jerusalem is the city to be identified with the last great attempt to destroy the people of God. Jerusalem received its due recompense in 70 AD:

"...God in his wisdom said, 'I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.' Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah... Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all" (Luke 11:49-51, NIV).

It is interesting that Matthew's account of this discourse is followed by the Olivet prophecy where the events leading up to the fall of Jerusalem in AD70 are telescoped together with the events leading up to the end of this age in a type/antitype relationship.

""Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you on her!" Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it in to the sea, saying, "Thus with violence the great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and will not be found anymore. The sound of harpists, musicians, flutists, and trumpets shall not be heard in you anymore. No craftsman of any craft shall be found in you anymore, and the sound of a millstone shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and all who were slain on the earth."" (Revelation 18:20-24).

"Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. As it was only in the last generation of them that "the iniquity of the Amorites was full" (Gen 15:16), and then the abominations of ages were at once completely and awfully avenged, so the iniquity of Israel was allowed to accumulate from age to age till in that generation it came to the full, and the whole collected vengeance of Heaven broke at once over its devoted head...

"As evil men and seducers wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived" (2 Tim 3:13), and treasure up unto themselves wrath (Rom 2:5); so over and above the partial retribution which often overtakes them individually, there are outstanding accounts left to be settled with them as a class, which accumulates over time - sometimes for ages - and are at length, "in the day of visitation," awfully brought up against them and settled, by an exercise of collective and crushing vengeance (Matt 23:31-36)" (David Brown, Matthew, A Commentary: Critical, Experimental, & Practical on the Old and New Testaments, by Jamieson, Fausset, & Brown, Volume 3, pages 111 & 113).

The ancient city of Babylon has held sway over this age from the time it rebelled against God after the flood. It reaches the 'fullness' of its rebellion in the last three and a half years of this age as Babylon the Great. Babylon therefore represents the fullness of man's rebellion from the time of Abel. With Jerusalem being the representative city of Babylon at the end-time it is the city which bears the accumulated guilt of the ages. So it can be said that "in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and all who were slain on the earth".

Therefore the vision of Revelation 17:1-6 also pictures the Antichrist and his Babylonian kingdom as being responsible for the "accumulated guilt" of all the blood that has been shed on the earth.

"When the Crusaders captured Jerusalem in 1099, they committed such slaughter that the horses waded up to their ankles in blood..." (Martin van Creveld, Letting Slip the Dogs of War,, February 18, 2007).

The amount of blood that is required to cover this 'outstanding account' (cp. Genesis 9:6) is seen in the second retro-prospective prophecy of the book of Revelation:

"So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses' bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs <about 180 miles - NKJV note>" (14:19-20).

The shedding of this blood is in "the battle of that great day of God Almighty (Revelation 16:14) which in the chronological story flow of the events of the book of Revelation is related in Revelation 19:11-21.

The defeat of the Antichrist, the false prophet, and the nations in this battle completes stage 2 of the fall of Babylon. Babylon will no longer rise again.

When it is said that the city "shall be thrown down, and shall not be found any more" it is in the sense that the Babylonian system will not be found anymore, (cp. Isaiah 24:19-20). There will be no more representative cities of ancient Babylon. In the time of John, Rome was the representative city of Babylon. In the end-time, Jerusalem will be its representative in its most God-defying extreme. The return of Jesus Christ brings to an end the hold that the ancient city of Babylon has held over the world. This anti-God system will not be found in any more daughter cities:

"But the court shall be seated, And they shall take away his <the Antichrist> dominion, To consume and destroy it forever. Then the kingdom and dominion, And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And all dominions shall serve and obey Him'" (Daniel 7:26-27).

But before Christ returns, as we have seen, there is going to:

" great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be, And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened" (Matthew 24:21-22).

Luke records in the parallel discourse:

"But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day comes on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be accounted worth to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the son of Man" (21:34-36).

As there were survivors from the Nazi concentration camps so there will be those who live through this time of trouble to form the embryo nations of the kingdom of God. But there is a select group out of God's spiritual people that will be protected "from the presence of the serpent" (Revelation 12:13-14; cp. the type in Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego in Daniel 3).

[The one hundred prophets that Obadiah hid in two caves (1 Kings 18) are also typical of God's end-time protection. Ahab and Jezebel are types of the Beast and the false prophet. The true Jehovah-worshippers, of this time in the northern kingdom of Israel, picture God's true church while the pseudo-Jehovah-worshippers (Jeroboam's instituted worship; cp. Mark 7:7-8) pictures traditional Christianity. The introduction of Baal-worship by Ahab and Jezebel types the new religious system of the Beast and false prophet, which is to supplant the true- and pseudo- church/es. The house and altar of Baal picture the new temple of the Beast, and Ahab's "wooden image" (1 Kings 16:33) pictures the 'literal' image of the Beast. "Elijah the Tishbite" (1 Kings 17:1), then, is a type of the end-time "Elijah the prophet" (Malachi 4:5). Elijah 'long' sojourn, in Zarephath of Sidon is also a type of the two witnesses in Jerusalem - "the heart of the Beast's kingdom - "Elijah is commanded to go and reside in the heart of the very land from which the Baal worship now being promoted in Israel had come" (NIVSB, note on 1 Kings 17:9)].

In Daniel 8 we saw a principle of telescopic prophecy in which a near-future person and a far-future person are telescoped together so as to appear at first glance to be only one person. The careers of Antiochus Epiphanes and the Antichrist were telescoped together in a type-antitype relationship because of a close similarity in what they do.

So in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 we have seven telescopic letters. The seven churches of Asia Minor in the 1st & 2nd centuries AD are types of seven special churches of God in the end-time. The letters begin addressing the near-future recipients and telescopes to the far-future ones.

Christ knows the works of these seven churches and one out of the seven may be said to be given a sabbath rest (not through death) from their works by not having to take the gospel directly to the world in the tribulation:

"And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write...I know your works. See I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name...Because you have kept My command to persevere, I will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown" (Revelation 3:7-12a).

The 'hour of trial' is the time when the ten kings "receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast" (Revelation 17:12).

Unfortunately, as we do not know where this church is, we cannot not point you in its direction.
