Races

Why wait for an expansion? Play new races now. Just use your current armies (and a little imagination). Also race reminder cards can be downloaded and printed to remind you of the race being played by each player. It should be noted that three of these races unique abilities are dependant on a certain type of terrain. I recommend choosing maps that will advantage both players chosen race, and provide interesting opportunities for their racial skills. Each race has base rules which are recommended. Then there are a selection of additional rules in blue. Players may pick and choose from these rules to suit their play style, or if they wish to create balance between races. Powerful archers attuned to the forest Spartan race of blood thirsty warriors, devastating up close. A territorial race of cursed Avians. A cunning and quick fish-men, who are deadly in the water. An unstoppable plague of animated corpses, hungering for the flesh of the living. Human High in spirit, humans charge forth to conquer and grow Mysterious Race Hidden amongst the pages ... can you find it?
Reasoning behind Racial enhancements. Unbalanced? My focus on making races is not for balance but to add flavour, make you feel as though you are commanding Elves, Orcs, or Undead. If the advantages of a racial trait can be offset by adding a few units to the enemies side or reducing banners needed by one, then I’m happy. I don’t think any are stronger than Iron Dwarves though. I’ve been pondering disadvantages for races, such as Orcs ignore one black flag when forced to retreat but instead loose one figure, but I want to keep things as simple as possible for now. Why not Elvish blue archers? Honestly I prefer that idea too, but since we have no blue archer banners I prefer the +1 die rule. It results in less confusion when playing. Unless someone can make some blue archer banners to blu-tac.
