The world of Seraph and Scaven

Arcadia, a collection of floating cities, is home to the Seraph a race of wise and peaceful winged men with form of angels.  In Arcadia the Seraph know nothing of pain, sickness, or mortality.  It was a place of eternal paradise.  Occasionally, the Seraph would visit men trying to guide them with their wisdom.  But the human race was stubborn, and often advice was misused or ignored.  The final straw was the Seraph's involvement in the great disaster of Aminos.  They imparted wisdom hoping to lead the men away from self destruction and when that failed, they imparted items of crystals that provided the bearer wisdom and knowledge.  Instead however the humans harnessed these gifts for war, creating shifters, and magical weapons.  Furious, the protector God of the Seraph Alia forbid anymore contact with the humans.  More than 400 years past, and the Seraph lived happily in their paradise of Arcadia.

Heresy.  Its the only explanation given the house of Nara as they where cast out from the paradise of Arcadia.  The entire clan where cast onto the forsaken world of Gyi’spire.  As they fell they where cursed by Alia, their wings went from a radiant white to dull blacks and browns.  The strength of flight was taken from them, to prevent them ever returning.  She only left them the strength to glide so they would not be killed in the fall.  However after landing, they knew the full impact of her curse.  They where mortal.  They where changed forever.  With each passing generation the ideals of the Seraph faded into the background.  Hunting, creating a home, and fighting sickness became their focus.  With their lifespan shortened children where born who where focused on the future, and cared not for the past.

The third  generation Guiding Teacher, Cario, saw the ways of the past where no more and ordered all record of them destroyed.  In secret he read the books of old before destroying them.

He found the name he would lead his people under.  The words of the curse Alia had delivered, and what made them who they are.  She had cursed them as ‘the unfit’, the Scaven.

The Guiding Teacher Cario dies.  In his time he had set up good standards for his people.  They had learnt to hunt and found a home for themselves in the mountains.  He noticed that his people had a very territorial nature, and there where brief clashes with the Kamil who lived in and protected the forests around their homes.  Their differences where put aside and Cario convinced his people to share the land.

He appointed a successor, his son Clim, but only days into his reign he fell sick and died.  In the confusion Theid a keen hunter and revered by many took up position as their leader.  His first order of action.  Drive the elves out of their territory.  He was  no longer interested in sharing their food or land with the Elves.  Training for battle began immediately.
