COME DANCE WITH US featuring Carter & Carter
Saturday August 6th 2005
This social was our 4th annual social with the popular duo David & Merelyn Carter providing entertainment and music to line dance to in between brackets with CD's. The night featured 5 hours of non-stop dancing with a near capacity crowd of about 280 people.

A highlight of the night was a special ABBA tribute with Carter & Carter, and others, dressing up in wigs and costumes for the set. Leanne Davies was the Dancing Queen, followed by ABBA look-alikes Julie, Glenda, Gerhard and Keith performing Mamma Mia. Other "ABBA's" then joined those on stage to perform Waterloo and Ring Ring.
Pavarotti again appeared (looking very like Tony) to sing Vincenzio for Life, Love, Liberty, and Tom (Gerhard) Cruise made an appearance during Old Time Rock 'N' Roll complete with sun glasses, shirt & specially designed boxer shorts!
Carter & Carter sang 3 brackets with a mix of their songs, covers, and familiar line dance songs. The dancers responded well to the challenge of doing some popular dances to other songs - for example: Caught In The Act to Mustang Sally! David & Merelyn invited volunteers to the stage to help them sing Turn Your Radio On, a song from their latest CD, and Steve, Gerhard, Umu, Sue, Margaret and Dianne took to the stage.
David & Merelyn were particularly taken by two aspects of the line dancers: everyone holding hands during Come Dance With Me - the whole hall moved as one - looked great from the stage; and the speed with which the dance floor filled when the first dance was announced - from empty to full in a matter of moments!
We had some visitors flying in from NSW who were coming to the social see Carter & Carter but their plane was delayed. What else could they do but come straight from the airport to the hall! They were impressed with the dancing and thought they might take up line dancing when they get home.
