Saturday 17th May 2008
Hungarian Cultural Centre, Wantirna

This sell-out social featured a Scottish Theme with music from the fabulous and energetic husband & wife duo The Borderers from Adelaide. Many dancers came dressed in tartan and kilts to add to the atmosphere of the night.

Guests arrived with a scottish piper (Hawthorn Agnew) playing the bagpipes. The dancing commenced with Waltz Across Texas to the song Mull of Kintyre.

The Borderers, Jim & Alex, sang some traditional scottish/irish/celtic music including Loch Lomond, Danny Boy, Galway Shawl, County Down and Tell Me Ma, as well as songs from their CDs like Bootscootin' Woman (a song about Jim's line-dancing-teacher sister in the UK), Fat, Bald & Ugly and Hot Love. A popular song that Jim & Alex sang was the Proclaimers hit 500 Miles (to which we danced Old Time Rock 'N' Roll).

The Dancin' Lines crew (Glenda, Keith, Yvonne, Leanne, Lynne, Anne, Julie, Gina and Gerhard) performed a skit featuring precision(?) marching, a dance routine to Scotland the Brave, followed by some highland dancing to Donald Where's Your Troosers - with a special appearance by Elvis (AKA Gerhard) who gave the song the rock 'n' roll treatment.
