About The Therapist:
Benefits of Massage
Whether you are old or young, everyday living can create a lot of
tension in your body. Massage can have a wonderful therapeutic effect on the
entire body - it can put your mind and body back in harmony. Massage can
provide you with a means to counteract the relentless pressures of home and
work life. Croydon Remedial and Sports Massage offers you individual
treatment by an accredited full-time remedial massage therapist for the
following services:
Remedial
massage can help relieve specific muscular aches and joint problems which are
chronic or related to overuse; release painful muscle spasms; relieve tension
headaches and neck pain; break up adhesions and scar tissue that cause pain and
stiffness in muscles and tendons; relieve joint pressure caused by
osteoarthritis, counteract the effects of prolonged stress and bodily tension;
assist in the rehabilitation of sprained and strained muscles.
Deep
Tissue Massage is used to release chronic patterns of muscular tension using
deep, slow strokes, direct pressure, or friction. Often the movements are
directed across the grain of the muscles (cross-fibre)
using the fingers, thumbs, or elbows. This is applied with greater pressure and
at deeper layers of the muscle than Swedish massage and that is why it is
called deep tissue.
It
is also more specific. For example, in the case of someone with a sore
shoulder, the practitioner may focus on the trapezius
and the rhomboid underneath, trying to work in all the layers of muscle that might
be involved. Deep tissue massage lends itself to being more focused on a
problem area.
Sports
massage is for anyone who is involved in weekend recreational sporting
activities right through to the professional athlete. Sports massage can help
athletes prevent sports related injuries occurring by warm-up and stimulation
of muscles (Pre-Event Massage); tone muscles, improve blood and lymphatic flow
which helps respiratory performance; improve flexibility of muscles; aid in
stress reduction; help prevent muscular adhesions; clear lactic acid build-up
which improves recovery time; assist rehabilition of sporting injuries such as sprains,
strains and muscle stiffness; remove painful muscle spasms; improve performance
and endurance.
This
is a gentle, flowing massage technique that is particularly effective for
people suffering from work related or personal stress. Swedish Massage can relax and tone your sore tired muscles; assist
the flow of blood and oxygen within your body; encourage the lymphatic flow
(the body's natural defence and detoxifying system),
and leave you feeling calm and energised.
Corrective
exercises are used to complement your massage and may assist you to improve
your range of movement and flexibility of muscles and joints through stretching
exercises; strengthening any muscle imbalances that could contribute to poor
posture or muscle fatigue and correct poor postural habits that cause chronic
muscular pain.
