Most of these dates were taken from the personal handwritten research notes, kindly sent to me by Betty (Lowthian) Hillman. This research by no means finished, but I felt that it had to be recorded now, instead of waiting until I had completed the search - but it is forever ongoing, and like this family will never be ended. There is a time however, to draw the line. The Children of William and Jane (Gordon) Lowthian.

Chr: 10 Feb 1855 Married: Died: The wonderful photograph below isn't dated, but I hazzard a guess that it about the 1880's, in Cumbria. Three of the above Lowthian sons are named. I took these photos at Plumpton Churchyard. Clockwise from top right... (i) Philip Lowthian b. 1838., (ii)John Lowthian b 1864/5 of Birdwood House & wife Betsy., (iii) Robert William & wife Jane Eliza ., (iv) These are the family of Philip Lowthian -the first name is hard to read but it is the wife of Isaac William - Isabella Walker., then Isaac William, and his brother Arthur. Isaac lived at Ivy Dene - which is now called Brockleymoor House ( below). I was directed to the house by a village lady who referred to it as "Mr Isaac's house - Ivy Dene". It appears that the people who live there now reverted to the somewhat similiar spelling of the previous name. It is a most beautiful old home, having been fully renovated. The lintel over the front door dates it at 1667 - sadly no one was at home the day I was there. The family of Robert Lowthian of Brocklymoor House...circa 1900
