|Broughtonia - Genealogy|
Welcome to "Broughtonia - Genealogy", a family history site that attempts to display all the deceased descendants of William Broughton (1768-1821) and also includes other related families.
William Broughton was a member of the First Fleet that arrived in Sydney Cove on 25th January 1788. He was an assistant to Surgeon White and became a prominent settler of the colony of New South Wales. He had five children with a common law wife, a convict Ann Glassop (also known as Elizabeth Heathorn), and subsequently married Elizabeth Kennedy, a free settler widow and had a further five children. This web site attempts to display all the deceased descendants of both families.
The deceased descendants of Henry Bingham (1797-1852) are also included in the scope of this site. One of Henry's daughters married one of William Broughton's sons. Henry Bingham and William Broughton are two of my sixteen GGG-grandfathers.
The browsable family tree is a cut-down version of my complete records. Due to space limitations I've pruned some lines out, including the descendants of Andrew Hamilton Hume (1762-1849) and the other Kennedy lines. The roots of pruned branches are displayed in the tree.
Click on the Tree link above to get started. The tree is best viewed using Firefox or IE, it does not work with Safari. Names and dates of all living persons have been removed to protect privacy. In addition details of my sources were removed but can be provided on request.
Whilst every effort has been made to ensure accuracy no doubt there are some gaps and errors in this data. If you notice anything that needs correcting please drop me a note.
