If you think you've got a right to take a benefit from other people's consideration you have an obligation to return something to the community. For that reason Brendan Scott has created the DecencyWare(tm) Licence. The licence has at its core the (to some) counter intuitive proposition that we're all part of the internet community and self motivation is sufficient reason to foster growth of that community. Egads doing something for nothing????
Under the DecencyWare licence you can have a licence to use the material the subject of the licence for your non-commerical use for 1 year after you first acquire it but only if you agree to share some aspect of your knowledge your experiences with the rest of the world on the internet. Ideally you will write a page with a similar level of detail on a topic about which you have some knowledge and which you think the rest of the world will benefit from. Alternatively you can write some software which performs a useful function or do something genuinely intended to benefit to the internet community. You choose the topic, you make some effort to make it available over the internet. Do it in your own time, but don't make delay an excuse for not doing it. You don't have to pay any money.
I can revoke or vary this licence at any time. To the extent permitted by law, all warranties are excluded. My liablity is capped at A$10 or the smallest amount permitted by law in relation to the circumstances of your claim.
If you acquire the material a second or subsequent time you get another licence over it under the then current version of the DecencyWare(tm) licence.
