THE CANECUTTERS

Sydney Adlington. my dad, (far left) took up canecutting when the family went to Tully, North Queensland in the 1930's. This was the beginning of the white man doing this work as it had been previously believed that it was the work for darker skinned people who could withstand the heat of the Tropics.

My father always maintained that it was the hardest work he had ever done.
