  1. Nino Sydney’s proposal – discussion

Nino Sydney suggested we should change Rule 13 (5) as it is too restrictive for the candidates for the president position and does not allow second generation Croats to qualify for the president, while AMAC has problems in finding qualified people willing to serve as the president. At the moment the Rule states: “The President of the Association must be a graduate of a Croatian Universities, or a student of a Croatian Universities, who has graduated from a University outside Croatia and is of Croatian origin”. Nino proposed several options. After discussion it was agreed (with 9 votes for and 3 against) that Rule 13(5) should be changed to read:

“The President of the Association must be a graduate of a Croatian university, or a student of a Croatian university, or a graduate of a university outside Croatia who is of Croatian origin. If the position of the President cannot be filled by a graduate, then and only then an undergraduate person could be nominated for the President”.

Special resolution required for this change. Notice of an extraordinary general meeting and ballot paper to be sent with the next AMAC newsletter. Current financial members to vote for or against the special resolution.

  1. Miscellaneous

i)                    Nino Sydney’s enquiry about website Hrvati-AMAC Forum – Articles/ comments signed as “Hrvati iz Australije” to be ignored as AMAC Sydney is not responsible and has nothing to do with them.

ii)                   Perestegi’s concert in Canberra was live recorded by ArtSound FM 92.7 Canberra. ArtSound offered AMAC technical copyright, which would cost us $300 or to buy CDs from them for $9.95 (including P&P). It was decided to buy 10 copies for AMAC and 5 for interested members present at the meeting (on their own cost). Others if interested can order directly from ArtSound.

iii)                 Tomislav invited all members to attend Lira concert from Zagreb, as well as the public meeting with the Croatian Minister of Foreign Affair, Mrs. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.

iv)                 Georgia asked if there was an updated Member List. Dusko explained that the list existed and could be looked at by any members, but not made public, as that would breach the confidentiality of information.

v)                  It was suggested the new committee should consider reducing membership fee for students and pensioners. To be discussed at the next Committee meeting.
