To the Memory of
Joseph Thompson
Born at Daventry in England and for many years a deacon of the church of London under the pastorate of The Rev Charles Hyatt.
He was one of the earliest promotors of the congregational interest in this colony and for 13 years a deacon of the church meeting in this place.
Distinguished for the steadfastness of his faith, the soundness of his judgement, and the gentleness of his spirit.
He devoted his time and influence to the cause of his redeemer.
To whom he resigned his soul in the full assurance of Hope on the 11th July 1858, in the 80th Year of his Age. Leaving to his descendents the inheritance of his spotless name.

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; for the end of that man is peace.

Robin then moved to Sydney for a fitter and turner marine apprenticeship at Garden Island and lived at Aunty Edie Michells' in North Sydney.
