The news has been received by cable of the death of Mr Charles H. Durie, manager of the Bank of Natal, Greytown, South Africa, who was accidentally killed, whilst riding on the 3rd inst. The deceased was a son of Mr P. Durie, senior Inspector of Schools at Grafton. He was a prize-winner in the first competition for scholarships at the opening of the Sydney High School, was for a long time an officer of the A.J.S. Bank, and since his removal to South Africa some three years back, had attained rapid advancement. Outside business life he took a keen interest in sport, and was for several years hon. secretary of the Balmain Bowling and Recreation Club.
